Linda Edna Cardellini was born in Redwood City, California, to Lorraine (Hernan) and Wayne David Cardellini, a businessman. After her successful performance in the role of Lady Rose MacClare on the period drama Downton Abbey from 2012 to 2015, her first breakthrough role was on the film of the same name, Cinderella in the year 2015. James went on portraying the Countess Natasha Rostova for the television adaptation War & Peace (2016). Also, he appeared in Baby Driver (2017) and in the period dramatics Darkest Hour (2017) and The Guernsey Literary and Potato Peel Pie Society (18) as well as The Dig (2021), and in musicals Mamma Mia! We Go Back Again (2018) as well as Yesterday (2019). Her performance as Pamela Anderson in the biographical series Pam & Tommy (2022) earned her nominations for an Golden Globe and a Primetime Emmy Award.
