Awkwafina
Awkwafina was initially an American musician and rapper releasing sly tracks that tackled questions of race and sexual identities with a funny twist. In the years before she stepped to Hollywood, she was able to release a number of songs. Nora Lum was born to Chinese Korean immigrants living in Forest Hills Queens. Her first exposure to music was from the trumpet. Alongside classical music and jazz, she began studying hip-hop in her teens. In college, she focused on her studies and majored both in women's study and journalism. For a brief period of time, in Beijing, Mandarin language classes were offered as well. It wasn't until after graduating that she turned her attention to music. My Vag, her song My Vag which was her response to the Mickey Avalon song My Dick, became a popular viral sensation across the Internet and later appeared on her debut LP Yellow Ranger. The album also contained was other hits that went viral, including Queef (body-positive) and NYC Bitchethe cost of $. The latter song was linked directly with another Awkwafina project NYC a travel guide published in 2015. The singer decided to make a career as an actor following the completion of her previous two endeavors, author and musician. In addition to early shows like Girl Code, Tawk and Bad Rap she also appeared in films such as Neighbors to Storks. In 2018, she scored breakthrough roles in a handful of high-profile films such as Dude Ocean's Eight and Crazy Rich Asians. The EP was released by in Fina We Trust in June in the same year.
